The Future of Farmed Fish is Land-based

There was a large pebble thrown into the waters of international fish farming this week as a multi-national salmon farmingĀ  announced at the annual world conference of fish farms that it would be increasing its US-land based atlantic salmon production to meet upwards of 50% of the US market.

It would be excellent if this signaled the shift of salmon and steelhead fish farming from fouling open waters to joining their land-based industry partners for soybeans, corn, cows and cotton.
